Lead contamination is at the forefront of our mind these days, and it should be.
According to the BBC:
Lead contamination has been linked with low IQ in children, hypertension and heart disease. In this same report by the BCC, the amount of lead in the water supply of major Canadian cities exceeded safe levels in hundreds of thousands of homes. Water systems are in violation for multiple reasons:
- Failure to properly test water
- Failure to report contamination
- Failure to treat water properly
To make matters worse, “Since lead was regularly used in plumbing system parts for many years, drinking water systems in Canada may still have some of these lead components in place today.”
However with any health crisis, it’s important to know and understand the facts, and fortunately, the facts are easy to find with a water test.
If you suspect or are concerned that you have lead present in your water, here’s what to do:

- If lead is detected, we’ll send your water to our laboratory to test for a more detailed analysis.
